Phyllis Wan

Phyllis is a trusted, thoughtful and strategic advisor and executive with a demonstrated and successful history of advising public and private sector clients in the diversity and inclusion field. Prior to launching Inclusive Excellence Partners LLC, she was the Deputy then U.S. Chief Diversity Officer at a large international law firm for eight years based in its Denver office, where she was also a partner for 17 years. Phyllis had leadership responsibilities for a wide range of diversity and inclusion initiatives throughout 14 U.S. offices with over a thousand lawyers and several thousand employees. She also played a pivotal role in formulating worldwide diversity and inclusion strategies, mission and goals for 44 offices worldwide.

Phyllis was a founding member of the 1L Summer Diversity Clerkship Program of the Colorado Pledge to Diversity Law Firm Group and a member of the Board of Directors of the Pledge. She served on the Board of Directors of the Colorado Lawyers Committee for 18 years and has been serving as a Co-Chair of its Hate Crimes Education Task Force for 7 years. She also served on the Board of Directors of the T. Howard Foundation, a national organization dedicated to increasing diversity in the media and entertainment industry, and the global Board of Directors of the Women in Law Empowerment Forum.

Phyllis graduated from NYU School of Law and Barnard College of Columbia University. Before moving to Colorado 25 years ago, Phyllis was raised in New York City, always having the strongly held belief that diversity and the inclusion of all people from all walks of life are our strengths, not only in our personal lives, but in our professional lives.

Cynthia Sanchez

Intern, CU Law School

Cynthia is a third-year law student at the University of Colorado Law School.   She recently completed a judicial internship with the Honorable Judge Terry Fox of the Colorado Court of Appeals and was awarded one of two 2020 Diversity Bar Exam Scholarships from CLI for the July 2020 Bar Exam.  She has interned with Colorado Legal Services, Earthjustice and the law firm of Kilmer, Lane & Newman.  Cynthia will be a Fellow with the Colorado Attorney General's Office in the Fall of 2020.  She received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Washington in 2011.
