CLI Committees & Working Groups

Career Fair Working Group – Seeking

  • Comprised of representatives from legal employers and law schools.

  • Plans annual career fair. 

  • Frequency of meetings depends on need.

Development Committee – Chair: TBD

  • Comprised of representatives from CLI-member law firms/departments and volunteers.
  • Meets about 8 times yearly.
  • Develops and recommends ways to solicit contributions to CLI from individuals and organizations.
  • Marketing Committee – Chair: Justin Cruz
  • Comprised of marketing professionals, CLI-member law firms/departments and volunteers.
  • Meet about 8 to 10 times yearly.
  • Develops marketing strategy for CLI overall and CLI events and products.
  • Review and make recommendations for marketing collateral.

Education Committee – Chair:  Kirsten Crawford

  • Comprised of representatives from CLI-member law firms/departments and volunteers.
  • Meets on an as-needed basis.
  • Makes recommendations regarding topics and speakers for educational events including the Legal Inclusiveness & Diversity Summit and CLE programs.

Executive Committee – Chair:  Ryann Peyton

  • Comprised of officers of the Board of Directors including Chair Elect, Chair Emeritus,
    Treasurer, Secretary and CEO.
  • Responsible for oversight of the nonprofit, CLI Board and Staff.

Former Board Advisory Committee - Chair:  Meshach Rhoades

  • Comprised of former Board of Director members.
  • Advises Board.
  • Frequency of meetings depends on need.

Gala Committee - Chair:  Y.E. Scott

  • Comprised of community members, legal and nonlegal.
  • Plans annual fundraising event. 
  • Frequency of meetings depends on need.

Marketing Committee - Chair:  Justin Cruz

  • Comprised of marketing professionals, CLI-member law firms/departments and volunteers.
  • Meet about 8 to 10 times yearly, mostly in the three months preceding the Gala.
  • Develops marketing strategy for CLI overall and CLI events and products.
  • Review and make recommendations for marketing collateral.

Retention Committee – Chair:  Sarah Wallace

  • Comprised of representatives from CLI-member law firms/departments and volunteers.
  • Meets about 8 times yearly.
  • Advise CLI on creating programs involving diverse associates and partners at CLI member law firms,
  • prominent general counsel from several Colorado companies, and managing partners of CLI member firms.
  • Comprised of marketing professionals, CLI-member law firms/departments and volunteers.
  • Meet about 8 to 10 times yearly.
  • Develops marketing strategy for CLI overall and CLI events and products.
  • Review and make recommendations for marketing collateral.

Scholarship Committee - Chair:  Velveta Golightly-Howell

    • Comprised of representatives from sponsor(s) of two scholarships (Colorado Pledge to Diversity & CLI), CLI member lawyers and YLD members.
    • Reviews applications and selects recipients for Bar Exam Scholarship and Living Expenses scholarships.
    • Meets two to 3 times a year during the Fall of the scholarship selection season.

    Strategic Planning Committee – Chair:  Ryann Peyton

    • Comprised of CLI Board Members, including the Executive Committee.
    • Meets monthly or on an as-needed basis.
    • Develops and recommends overall strategic direction (short-term and long-term) and recommends actions to Staff, Executive Committee and, if necessary, the Board of Directors.

    Pipeline Working Group - Chair:  Seeking

    • Comprised of individuals with an interest in CLI's mission.
    • Focuses on programming to increase the number of diverse students and attorneys in the legal profession.
    • Initial subcommittees (potentially more in the future): Journey to JD, Scholarships, Dream Teams
